Communications Inventory

Introduction & Instructions for K-12 Districts

Below are the communications "mini audit" materials, as part of your participation in OSBA's Bridges to Achievement project. We're hoping you can complete this work in four weeks - contact our office if this might be a problem.

In this phase we'll learn about the things you're doing well, and give you ideas on what to improve without a lot of extra effort on your part.

These materials include two checklists for districts and their component schools to complete:

One on district/school board communications;
The other for each of your principals to complete so we can learn how communications are working at the school level.

We designed them to be easy to fill out, but feel free to add as much information as you wish.

We're using an outside firm, C & M Communications, to review the surveys and make some follow-up calls. The project lead will be Jeanne Magmer - OSBA's former communications director. She understands school communications, so we're privileged to be working with her! C & M Communications will also evaluate your recent voter history (last four election cycles) and will conduct a phone interview with you and your board chair, as part of the audit. OSBA Webmaster Eric Mousel will review your Web site and OSBA Communication Services Director Shannon Priem will be visiting your district to share audit results and share ideas to improve communications.

Also, when you return these surveys, please include samples of your district and school newsletters and publications, including student handbooks.
